| For the crew of the “JV” team the task in “Bologoye-Summer 2009” rally was to adapt and to finish. It did it in spite of difficulties in the course of the race. And difficulties were there … The main task for the race was to adapt to a combat mode after a long interval. And the most important task was to reach the finish. It was not so easy. However the crew of Grigory and Natalia Medvedev finished in spite of everything. Grigory Medvedev: «On the second SS of the second section we heard a distinctive metal rattle in the rear of the car. Its cause was not clear. Finally on the third special stage our wheel flew away. We thought that for us the race was over. But after an inspection I saw that brake system and pins were safe. We took out a spare wheel. Natalia placed an “OK” sign. I lifted the car with the help of a jack and mounted a spare wheel. Screw nuts, naturally, had been lost so I took one screw nut from each of three other wheels and off we went». The crew was able not only to continue the race but to timely pass time control points. Certainly they had to keep a safe speed; in any case they had to take into account not full fastening of wheels. Nevertheless the sportsmen managed to keep the tempo of competitors in the Logan Cup and after a service to increase their speed substantially. An experience of participation in off-road competitions proved to be very useful in passing wades while reasonable caution allowed them to finish in the rally. The result of their performance in “Bologoye” round of Renault Logan Cup was the eighth place in the series. It gave the crew the first qualification point (after 6 rounds the crew of the “JV” team occupies the thirteenth line of the general qualification). In the general classification of the race the duet of Grigory and Natalia Medvedevs occupied the 24 place. At that in 2000H qualification class they have shown the 12th time. Grigory Medvedev: «Deep ponds on special stages we passed carefully particularly when we saw how engines of our competitors had been flooded. For one time our engine got flooded but after some “sneezing” we run further on. An experience of participation in off road competitions proved to be very useful ; how to correctly pass wades, how to drive on wet ground. It was very handy». As a whole the tasks set for the crew of the “JV” team had been accomplished, even over accomplished. The race had been run from the beginning to the end. Also there had been acquired an experience of “survival” in difficult racing conditions. Besides, the media task had been accomplished. The “JV” film shooting group was able to take shots of the crew in the combat mode on the track. At the same time a cameraman who squeezed himself into a carcass behind the crew where only a helmet can be placed had been able to take photos of the process almost from “inside”. As a whole the heat was successful. In spite of difficulties the crew was able to finish and even not on the last place in the “carcass” qualification. Well, practice makes perfect. RallyRUS | |||
